Place your bets on 'Casino Royale'
Agent 007 James Bond rushes across the movie screen somersaults past shooting bullets, and dives behind a door and ducks for cover. The new Bond movie, Casino Royale, directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson came into theaters on November 17th. British actor, Daniel Craig, played the spectacular role of the new Bond. This particular James Bond movie was one of the firsts, when Bond was a young agent and receives his license to kill.
Bond sets off on his first mission in a jungle setting. He spies on a terrorist group and tries to find out more information about them. He chases down one of the terrorists; climbing up ropes and over bars in construction areas, risking his life with these precarious stunts. The viewer is left in awe as Bonds cleverly escapes with every limb still attached to his body.
The setting changes and we are found on the beautiful island Nassau in the Bahamas. Bond learns more about a man named Le Chiffre who is a banker to the world’s terrorist organizations. Bond finds out that Le Chiffre is holding a high-stakes poker game at Le Casino Royale in Monetnegro to raise funds for terrorist activities. The MI6 orders Bond to beat Le Chiffre in this game of poker with the aid of Vesper Lynd, played by Eva Green. As the movie progresses these two partners have a closer relationship. This film has many twists and turns that the viewer would not expect.
This Bond movie had beautiful Bahamian settings with giant palm trees and gorgeous blue beaches. The poker game took place in an upscale casino with classy poker tables and affluent opponents in formal attire. This movie also took place in Montenegro, a beautiful country much like Venice.
This movie was a typical Bond movie with the usual fancy cars and gadgets. Craig played an amazing role of Bond and greatly portrays the role of the clever, mischievous agent. This movie had a lot of action and suspense. Though it is hard to follow at times if you’re not a James Bond fan, like myself. However, it is still easy to pick up the storyline if you listen carefully and pay close attention to each character. There some bloody scenes that were disturbing, so viewer discretion is advised. Overall this film kept me at the edge of my seat. If you’re looking for some action, Casino Royale is just for you.
