You'll fall in love with the Love Arcade
Want a great prom experience this year? The Love Arcade is seeking to play at Abraham Lincoln High School’s prom. The band consists of Snowhite Christian (vocals), Seth Joshua (bass), Thomas Amason (guitar), Dorman Pantfoeder (drums), and Nathanael Boone (keys). If you’re into Indie bands such as Motion City Soundtrack or Beck you will definitely love this band. Don’t know those bands? No problem. Bottom line is they’re good. This band recently got signed to major record label, Atlantic Records and is now on tour with Kill Hannah. If you’re a rap enthusiast, rapper T.I. has the Love Arcade in his top 8 on MySpace.
Just to give you an idea on how amazing this band is, I asked them a few questions. They talked about working at a major record label, as well as groupies, being on tour and much more.
Maria: How did The Love Arcade begin?
The Love Arcade: We met through our record company, and I was trying to put a band together. Our drummer and guitar player were the first ones we tried out. The keyboard player and bass player were already in the band to start because they were long time friends and cousins.
M: Did you guys consider yourselves a serious band initially?
L.A.: We are definitely a serious band. I write about serious stuff and I write about fun stuff, but none of it isn’t real stuff. Just because its fun doesn’t mean it’s not real. If you’ve listened to the record it matures as the songs go on and gets more serious.
M: Were there any members in the band previously who are no longer in it?
L.A.: Three: the keyboard player the drummer and the guitar player. They wanted to do different things because this really is a hard thing to do.
M: Did you guys have an ultimate goal for the band when it initially started?
L.A.: Our initial goal was to be as big as The Beatles and take over the world, but that’s everyone’s goal when you’re young.
M: Are there groupies for bands like yours?
L.A.: No groupies were in the 21st century those don’t exist anymore. I mean there are a lot of girls that want to be girlfriends of guys in bands, but not really a lot of girls that get naked and crazy for no reason.
M: What is your role in L.A. besides being the lead singer?
L.A.: I made the record in my basement I produced, and also recorded, played and wrote everything on it. I put a band together to play the songs live, so far it’s been a blast to do.
M: I understand that you guys are on tour with Kill Hannah, is this the most major tour this band has been on? How is it like on tour? And what do you feel when you’re on stage?
L.A.: This is a very fun tour, we are having a blast! This is the most major tour we’ve been on. It’s such an adrenaline rush of every emotion: you want to scream, dance and go crazy and it’s just so much fun.
M: How did you guys get signed to such a major record company like Atlantic? What’s it like to deal with producers and Atlantic reps?
L.A.: I got signed by sending videos and music in to the record company and eventually they decided to let me have a try at it. [Laughs] There are a lot of cool people on my team at Atlantic and I’m happy to work with every one of them and I think that they feel the same way.
M: Do you guys have any CD’s out?
L.A.: We have our first album out now in stores now!
M: What is the major influence to your song lyrics?
L.A.: Life is the major influence of my song lyrics. There’s so much to write about as far as life, opinions and circumstances.
{{quotebox|right|Our initial goal was to be as big as The Beatles and take over the world, but that’s everyone’s goal when you’re young.
M: Any last words?| }}
L.A.: The main goal of all of this is to tell people to do what they want to do in life. It’s too short, and your time shouldn’t be wasted on what others want you to do. Do what you want to do, and make it work for you.
