Gimme more Britney

‘Blackout’ said to be Spears’ best album

Many people can say they don’t like Britney Spears, but not many can say they don’t like her music. Despite the dramatic headlines forming around Spears, it doesn’t seem it has affected her career. “Blackout,” her new comeback album, may be the best album she’s ever done. Featuring the infamous single, “Gimme More,” Spears’ voice is irresistible as it mixes in with the exceptional beats of her new songs.

Spears, the queen of Hollywood, released her newest album on Oct. 30th, four years after releasing her last full album. “Blackout” was originally set to be released on Nov. 13th.

Due to song leaks on the Internet from sources such as the infamous celebrity basher Perez Hilton, the date was pushed up. Spears’ first four albums all debuted at number one on the billboard charts, making her the first female artist to accomplish it. Spears’ last full album release was “In the Zone,” which sold over 609,000 copies in its first week. Though she couldn’t continue her streak, “Blackout” debuted at number two selling a disappointing 290,000 units.

Spears seem to appear on front pages of tabloids, magazines, and entertainment news. Stories report that Spears is partying too hard and also mentions the custody fight over her two kids with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Spears’ life may be in a meltdown, but her career isn’t.

Many people lost hope when years passed and Britney still had not released one single. Few had believed her career ended with her last album, “B in the Mix,” which is a remix album of previous songs. Many people don’t listen to her because of the choices she made, but her talent was not affected by her personal life. She has been working on this album for two years and I believe it’s her best work.

A good thing about Spears coming back with a new album, it’s not talking about her dramatic and lonely life. Her album tells everyone that she is strong and can overcome obstacles. Her songs tell listeners to get up and rock to the beat. Though most of her album is filled with dance songs, you can’t escape the pop voice of Spears. The unique voice is featured in her song, “Heaven on Earth,” which is said to become a big hit.

My favorite songs include “Radar,” and “Break the Ice.” “Radar” is a great song to dance to. “Break the Ice” is mainly Spears telling us that she’s back and she’s ready to “get it blazing.” The beginning of the song starts out with Spears saying, “It’s been a while, I know I shouldn’t have kept you waiting. But I’m here now.”

My favorite song from the whole album is already a popular song. “Piece of Me” is basically about her music life starting when she was “Ms. American Dream since she was seventeen.” She calls herself many stereotypical names in the chorus, which is my favorite part. In her lyrics, Spears calls herself “Mrs. Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Mrs. Oh My God that Britney’s shameless, Mrs. Extra! Extra! This just in, and Mrs. She’s too big now she’s too thin.” The song directly reflects her life and the things she sings about are her experience of what people have said about her. It tells us how the press tells readers how celebrities need to eat more, and when Spears does, they criticize her.

This album is the best album she’s ever made. The two years worth of work was put into good use. Though the current battles for custody of her children may not be going so good, her music career is better than ever.
