Homecoming with Bell Game
The crowd cheers as senior running back David Henderson runs the opening 92 yards for a touchdown.
The Lincoln Mustangs have won the Bell Game! Sweaty and exhausted from cheering on your school, you realize that you have to get home to shower and change for homecoming.
Time was a big problem for many Lincoln students, as homecoming was held a few hours after the Bell Game at Washington High School.
“You have to go to the Bell Game [at Washington High School] and then you have to go home, shower, and get ready for homecoming,” said junior Justine Wong, class of 2009 treasurer. “It seems rushed.”
Football players were not too pleased either, as those who attended homecoming had to get there right after playing a long game.
“I don’t like it because most of the football players are going to be really tired,” said senior fullback Greg Foote, before the Bell Game. “I’m going to be really tired after the game.”
A handful of students did, however, like the timing of homecoming and the Bell Game.
“We get to celebrate after we win!” said an anonymous sophomore.
The reason to that day’s planned festivities is actually not that big of a deal. It was a simple mistake.
“The rec center is the perfect size,” said associated student body president senior Steven Huey. “The reason they’re on the same day is because it was supposed to be on the 27th, that following Saturday, but the people that own the rec center marked us down for Friday.”
Nevertheless, both the Bell Game and homecoming were two great successes, with homecoming selling out and the football team taking home the bell once again.
