Editorial: What are we fighting for?

Recently there have been a growing number in fights and violence on and off school grounds. We don’t believe in violence and we don’t believe in any type of fighting. Not only does it ruin the people who are fighting but it also ruins everyone at this school.

Why fight over things that are superficial? Fighting over such stupid reasons are so childish. We are in high school. We are about to go off into the real world. We should be acting like adults and not fighting over something that doesn’t matter. Why can’t we all learn how to let things go? Or what’s even better is to learn how to say sorry and forgive.

What are we fighting for anyways? Is it for turf? Is it because of our race? All these things are skin deep. They don’t matter. There is no difference between your enemies. Since we are all the same, why are we fighting our brothers?

Why are we fighting? Is it the thrill that you get? If its thrill you seek, then you should try something less violent, like a roller coaster. If it’s turf that you want back, then you should know that it’s not your turf. It‘s everyone’s turf and no one owns it. If you just want to look like a jerk, then congratulations, you just made a fool of yourself. But if you really want to be a jerk, then be a jerk some place else like in your own home.

It’s unfortunate that we are in high school, about to become adults and we are still fighting with each other. If we don’t want the horrible history of the Nazis or African American slavery to repeat it’s self, then stop all this fighting we have now. If don’t stop it now, then the hate, the violence, the fighting will continue.
