Dear Lincoln Log Editors,
As an alumni, I’m so shocked that you guys have finally turned the threats of “we might get a closed campus lunch” to an actually reality. How could you guys take this for-granted? It was such a privilege that we were able to go down to KFC to get some popcorn chicken, or go to 8 Immortals to get some beef and broccoli. But as students you guys weren’t responsible enough to throw away your own trash, keep off the phones in class, and take your hats off in the building. It’s not that hard. And the smoking issue- guys it doesn’t make you look cool, and girls you sure as hell do not look sexy with that cancer stick in your mouth.
You guys need to understand that not one person is at fault, but the student body as a whole is at fault. Upperclassmen, you guys are supposed to be the responsible ones; if you guys are rude and disrespectful, the underclassmen will follow in your foot steps; I don’t think that is the kind of example you want to set for the underclassmen. Underclassmen, this is your chance to prove that you guys handle your responsibilities so, act your age and not your shoe size. Everyone needs to learn that you actions have consequences. Know that this is your consequence for not taking heed to the many warnings of the administrative staff. If you guys can’t take responsibility for yourselves, why should the administrative staff give you the privileges that come with being responsible?
Have fun eating delicious, mushy, weeks old frozen and then prepared again food from the cafeteria!

Dear Lincoln Log Editors,
The issue of closed campus lunch has been around since the beginning of my freshmen year. When I was a freshmen, the administrative staff hassled us about closing campus, but upperclassmen told me that they made those empty threats every single year. Even though they made threats, we took it seriously. Since neighbors complained about trash on their properties, but we improved that. From the information I have heard, it seems as if the whole student body is at fault. For upperclassmen, it is your responsibility to help the lower classmen and taking care of the community. And lower classmen should start to respect the school and the community. Not knowing what to do is not an excuse. Everyone is part of the problem. Not respecting the school rules with using cell phones and wearing hats in class and hallways is individual responsibility. As I drove by the school after 6th period, I saw a bunch of kids smoking. For one, under aged smoking is illegal. Second, smoking causes the littering of countless cigarette buds. It is no wonder why the campus is having closed lunch. You guys had many warnings to change and I guess no one took it seriously, thus, you guys lost your only chance to stop this from happening. Throughout my four years at Lincoln, every single year we were told that there would be closed campus lunch, but we heeded these warnings and proved to the administration that we deserve closed campus lunch. Though it is too late at this point, perhaps there is still a way to revoke the decision, but that requires work for the whole student body.
